We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Staff Accountant to join our nonprofit organization's finance team. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with grant and donor requirements, and supporting the organization's day-to-day accounting operations.

Job Description



  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and monthly account reconciliations


  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes


  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accurate coding and timely payments/collections


  • Prepare financial reports for grants, donations, and funding sources


  • Track and reconcile restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with donor and grant agreements


  • Assist with audit preparation, including gathering supporting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries


  • Support the development of organizational and departmental budgets and forecasts


  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB, IRS guidelines)


  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and support documentation


  • Assist in the implementation of internal controls and financial procedures

The Successful Applicant



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field


  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment


  • Knowledge of fund accounting and familiarity with grant reporting requirements


  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP Fund Accounting, or similar) and Microsoft Excel


  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
