My client is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Procurement Manager - Metals to lead the sourcing and procurement of raw and semi-finished metals, including steel, aluminum, copper, and specialty alloys. This role is pivotal to ensuring a resilient and cost-effective supply chain in support of their manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep market insight, strong negotiation capabilities, and a proven track record in global metals sourcing.

Job Description

  • Develop and execute category strategies for metals procurement aligned with company objectives and production needs.
  • Lead supplier identification, selection, onboarding, and performance management with a focus on quality, cost, delivery, and sustainability.
  • Negotiate long-term contracts, spot buys, and hedging strategies to mitigate volatility in metal prices.
  • Analyze global market trends, trade flows, tariffs, and geopolitical risks impacting metal supply and pricing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, finance, and quality assurance teams to forecast material needs and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards, including ethical sourcing and ESG targets.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and industry partners to stay ahead of innovation and market developments.
  • Utilize ERP and procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) for efficient contract and supplier management.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and contribute to senior leadership briefings on procurement strategy.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Procurement Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years focused on metals or industrial commodities.
  • Deep understanding of the global metals market, pricing mechanisms, and sourcing strategies.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
