A client is looking for a Principal Network Engineer to sit onsite 2-3 days a week in Stamford, CT. The ideal candidate should have 8-15 years of experience in the financial services industry and have experience supporting network engineering at a global level.

Job Description



  • Develop and engineer replacement solutions for end-of-life (EOL) network services and hardware.


  • Create and manage complex implementation plans that minimize downtime and avoid business disruption.


  • Lead production cutovers and deployment activities, including availability for weekend work as needed.


  • Quickly assess existing network infrastructure to identify and prioritize upgrade needs.


  • Work closely with experienced team members to drive completion of strategic networking initiatives.

The Successful Applicant



  • Core Networking Expertise (60%): Extensive on-prem SME experience with Cisco routing/switching, LAN/WAN, VLANs, WiFi, BGP, OSPF, firewalls (Fortinet), DNS/DHCP, proxies, VPNs, encryption, and GCP cloud networking/security; proficient with tools like F5, InfoBlox, GigaMon, Akamai, NetFlow, and others.


  • Cloud Migration & Data Center Exit (15%): Led on-prem to GCP migrations, managed global data center/colo exit programs, performed cutover planning, EOL replacements, documentation (Visio), and Tier 2 support for implementation and outage mitigation.


  • Network Automation & Observability (15%): Experience with Ansible, Python, CI/CD, Jenkins, and tools for automated discovery, latency tracking, application visibility, and global dashboard creation.


  • Strategic Collaboration (10%): Proven ability to work with global teams, contribute to long-term planning, technology innovation, and align with architectural standards and support frameworks.
