Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Process Development & Optimization: Design and implement manufacturing processes for precision parts and assemblies, ensuring they meet customer specifications and product design intent.
  • Collaboration & Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Work closely with customers to provide engineering support, identify opportunities for manufacturability improvements, and optimize production processes.
  • Automation Integration: Utilize automation where feasible to improve the repeatability and quality of manufacturing processes.
  • Precision Inspection: Utilize advanced inspection systems such as CMMs and 3D scanning technologies to ensure parts meet the required quality standards.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Work with the engineering team to develop creative solutions for manufacturing challenges, particularly for complex part designs and difficult-to-manufacture features.
  • Prototyping & Production Support: Assist in transitioning prototypes to full-scale production while ensuring quality and efficiency at all stages.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and assess manufacturing processes, recommending improvements for cost reduction, efficiency, and quality enhancement

The Successful Applicant

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, ideally in a precision machining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes (lathe, milling, wire EDM, mill-turn).
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement, quality control, and precision inspection systems.
  • Experience with automation technologies in manufacturing.
  • Ability to work on complex designs with a strong focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on creative, practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) and advanced inspection technologies (CMM, 3D scanning).
  • Knowledge of materials used in precision manufacturing.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
