Job Description

The Field Service Engineer 9Photonics) will be responsible for:



  • Perform field service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laser systems at customer sites.


  • Install and align new continuous-wave and ultrafast laser systems.


  • Conduct in-house service, diagnostics, and repairs of laser equipment.


  • Provide technical support and application guidance to customers and internal teams.


  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex technical issues.


  • Travel regularly to customer locations across North America and occasionally to Europe for training.


  • Interpret and work with optical, electrical, and mechanical system designs.


  • Use standard lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.


  • Maintain clear communication with customers to ensure service satisfaction.


  • Remain calm and professional in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.


  • Support continuous improvement in service procedures and documentation.


  • Lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds as part of system handling and setup.

The Successful Applicant

The sucessful candidate will have:



  • Hands-on experience working with continuous-wave (cw) and/or ultrafast laser systems.


  • Practical knowledge of optical alignment and system installation.


  • Strong understanding of optical principles and laser system design.


  • Familiarity with standard lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.


  • Background in physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.


  • Experience troubleshooting complex optical and electronic systems.


  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary technical teams.


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer-facing support.


  • Comfortable working in high-pressure, field-based environments.


  • Ability to travel regularly and occasionally internationally for training.


  • Must be able to lift and handle equipment up to 50 pounds.


  • Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
