Job Description

  • Lead a team of controls engineers and technicians in the design, development, and implementation of advanced automation systems
  • Architect and optimize PLC, HMI, and SCADA-based controls for high-speed, multi-axis machinery and production systems
  • Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication for capital automation initiatives
  • Guide integration of robotics, vision systems, servo drives, and safety systems in alignment with production goals
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of automation processes across the facility
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system performance
  • Review and approve technical documentation including wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O lists, and user manuals
  • Act as subject matter expert on industrial control platforms (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation preferred)
  • Ensure all automation projects adhere to safety codes, regulatory standards, and internal quality benchmarks
  • Provide hands-on support during system commissioning, troubleshooting, and production ramp-up
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (Master's a plus)
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls, with 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role
  • Expertise in PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting (Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of automation hardware including robotics, drives, sensors, safety devices, and motion control
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept to implementation
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage technical staff
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills for coordinating with stakeholders across departments
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
